Healthy Lawn Services
We offer custom lawn care programs for a beautiful, healthy lawn.
Fertilizer Programs
Our fertilizer programs are designed to promote a healthy, disease free lawn. We
accomplish this by supplying the proper amount of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus
for steady plant growth. This will promote proper root development, lush green leaf
blades and the grass can be cut at 5 to 7 day intervals. An excess of fertilizer
can also lead to unwanted lawn disease and stress for grass. We offer Spring/Summer
Maintenance and Winter Fertilizer programs custom designed to your lawn’s specific
needs.
Weed Programs
Our weed programs utilize both pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. The preferred
way to control the growth of weeds is the use of pre-emergent herbicides. In order
for a pre-emergent to work, the herbicide must be applied before the seed starts
to germinate. Once the weed is growing, a post-emergent or mechanical method must
be used to remove it from the landscape. Most weeds can be removed from a yard without
damaging the grass (exceptions Dallisgrass, crabgrass, and nut grass.)
Fungus Control
BROWN PATCH, GRAY LEAF SPOT, FAIRY RING, RUST, and
DOWNY MILDEW are fungi that can be controlled using fungicides.
Watering times and frequencies can help reduce the chances of fungi growth but most
of the time the application of fungicides are necessary.
Insect Control
Our insect control programs focuses on GRUBS, CHINCH BUGS,
FLEAS, FIRE ANTS and any other bug that prevents you from enjoying your
yard. Preventative treatments for grubs, chinch bugs and fire ants are the best
approach for controlling insect problems. Grubs typically need to be treated during
April – May (Depending on temperature and rain fall) before emerging as a June bug.
Once the grubs have damaged the root system of the grass, the grass must “replace”or
“fill-in” the damaged area by growth of new stolens or "runners". Chinch Bugs can
infest a yard from April to Late October depending on environmental conditions.
Fire ants can be eliminated from yards for a period of one year, guaranteed.
Core Aeration
Core aeration is a mechanical process where a series of ½ inch diameter cores or
“plugs” (about the size of a wine cork) are removed from the ground. These “plugs”
will remain in the yard for a week or two before being re-absorbed into the soil.
Core aeration is especially important in lawns that are heavily compacted or have
a very thin turf. Core aeration can increase the quality of your turf by preventing
fertilizer run-off, improving root depth of turf, increasing water, nutrient and
oxygen movement in the soil. This process can also reduce the organic layer at the
root zone of the turf by physically breaking up/removing this zone. Core aeration
is an important process and should be done at least once a year, preferably during
the active growing season.
